Ledge Space ("Ledge Space", "we", "us", or "our") helps people share where and when they plan to be somewhere so that their friends can find them in real life. Because the product is built around location and social connections, we take the handling of your information seriously. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
By creating an account or using Ledge Space, you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of service.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information.
Information you give us
- Account details such as your email address, a display name, and a password managed by our authentication provider.
- Profile details you choose to add, such as a short bio, city, time zone, a phone number, and a WhatsApp number.
- Content you create, including plans (a time and place you intend to be), places you save as ledges, events, and friend connections and invitations.
Location information
- Approximate location derived from a place you attach to a plan, ledge, or event, or from an address you enter.
- Precise location (latitude and longitude) when you choose to share your device location, for example to find nearby places or to pin where a plan will happen. We request precise location only with your permission through your browser or device, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in your browser or device settings.
Location you attach to a plan or place is shared according to the visibility you choose for that item, as described below. We do not track your location continuously in the background.
Information we collect automatically
- Basic device and usage information such as app version, general diagnostics, and the pages or actions you take, used to operate and improve the service.
- Push notification tokens for the devices you register, so we can deliver notifications you have asked to receive.
How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve Ledge Space.
- To show your plans, places, and events to the audiences you select, and to surface relevant nearby content to you.
- To connect you with friends, deliver invitations, and send notifications and reminders you have opted into.
- To keep the service safe, prevent abuse, and enforce our terms.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Visibility and how information is shared
You control who can see the plans and places you create through a visibility setting on each item:
- Public content, including any location attached to it, can be seen by other signed-in users, for example through the discover feed or nearby search.
- Friends content is visible only to people you have accepted as friends.
- Private content is visible only to you.
Think carefully before marking a plan public, because a public plan can reveal where you intend to be at a given time. You can change an item's visibility or delete it at any time.
We share information with others only in these situations:
- With other users according to the visibility settings above and the friend connections you make.
- With service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, such as cloud hosting, authentication, and message delivery providers.
- For legal reasons, when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
- In a business transfer, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
Notifications, SMS, and messaging consent
In-app and push notifications are part of the core service. If we offer delivery by SMS text message or by WhatsApp, those channels are strictly optional and off by default. If you turn one on, you consent to receive related messages at the number you provide, message and data rates may apply, and you can opt out at any time in your settings or by replying with a stop keyword where supported. Providing a phone number is never required to use Ledge Space.
Third party providers
We rely on reputable third parties to run the service, which may include cloud infrastructure and database hosting, user authentication, mapping and geocoding, and push, SMS, or WhatsApp message delivery. These providers may process your information only to perform services for us and are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete a plan, place, or event, we remove it from active systems. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your account and associated data as described below, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Residual copies may persist briefly in backups before they are overwritten on their normal cycle.
Your rights and choices
- Access and portability. You can download a copy of your data at any time from Settings, under Account, using "Download my data".
- Deletion. You can permanently delete your account and associated data from Settings, under Account, using "Delete account". This removes your profile, plans, places, events you created, friend connections and requests, saved plans, event subscriptions, invites, device tokens, notifications, and configured webhooks.
- Correction. You can edit your profile and content directly in the app.
- Location and messaging controls. You can withdraw location permission in your browser or device, and turn off optional SMS or WhatsApp delivery in your settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Children
Ledge Space is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. During sign up we ask you to confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. Some regions set a higher minimum age, and you must meet the minimum age in your location to use the service.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.
International users
We operate the service using infrastructure that may be located in countries other than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate protections for information transferred across borders.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of Ledge Space after an update means you accept the revised policy.
